My Grandmother’s Remedy For Back of the Throat Bad Breath

Isn’t it interesting that even in today’s age of modern medicine and science that those old tried and true homemade remedies still seem to work better than most products you buy at the pharmacy? My grandmother’s remedy for back of the throat bad breath is so much better than any product I’ve ever tried and since it’s all-natural, why would I want to use anything else?

It’s true that in my grandmother’s day they didn’t know quite as much about what causes back of the throat bad breath as we do today. Most doctors agree that bad breath is typically caused by germs and bacteria from food particles that are stuck in the mouth and between teeth. This is usually true of back of the throat bad breath as it’s very difficult to reach these areas with a toothbrush to really get everything as clean as it needs to be. However even if my grandmother didn’t know exactly what caused it, she knew how to treat it properly.

Since this part of the mouth is difficult to reach with a toothbrush then it’s important to get it clean some other way. A simple gargle with saltwater solution can work wonders to get the mouth minty and fresh and can easily address this problem. Why is this?

Salt acts as a cleansing agent both by its chemical properties and because it’s very gritty; these tiny salt particles wipe away all those food particles that are stuck back there. Salt also work to neutralize acids that are in the mouth from the bacteria built up or that may be coming up from the stomach and digestive system. Both of these can cause back of the throat bad breath and the salt helps to neutralize the acid and the odor that comes along with it.

Gargling with saltwater may seem somewhat quaint as a remedy for back of the throat bad breath but mouthwashes and other products we buy today contain all sorts of harsh and unnatural chemicals which can actually dry the mouth and cause even more bad breath! The alcohol in most mouthwashes is very bad for the teeth and skin inside the mouth whereas saltwater is all-natural and very soothing. So why not try it for back of the throat bad breath; you’ll be glad you did!

I hate bad breath and I used to suffer from it. Luckily with the bad breath remedies that my grandmother shared with me, I managed to cure my bad breath.
